Open House & Mental Health Month at Rush Ranch

On April 19, the Solano Land Trust celebrated its 35th annual Open House and Earth Day at the Rush Ranch. Whether excited about going on a horse-drawn carriage, looking at the sun through a telescope, or playing with sound healing instruments - there was something fun for everyone. The Crescent Moon team was honored to share the space with local organizations such as Access Adventure, Peña Adobe Historical Society, Windy Skies Observers, and Solano County Library, among many others. Our table hosted a community canvas painting project where we asked visitors to paint or draw their favorite part of nature, and it was beautiful witnessing family members of all ages helping each other be creative.

We also offered a mindfulness-based photography and nature walk workshop facilitated by eco-therapist and videographer, Darlene DeRose. We were encouraged to listen to our intuition and foster a connection with this sacred land by receiving an image from the plants and beauty around us. This experience was not only meditative but also enlightening. We also offered this free workshop experience in partnership with Solano Behavioral Health for May Mental Health Month. It was a wonderful experience for all the community members, families and volunteers who joined us.

“Too many people suffer in silence and face mental health challenges alone”, said Eugene Durrah, Mental Health Services Manager over the Behavioral Health Services Act, or Prop1, in Solano County Behavioral Health... "we invite all Solano County residents to come together, connect, and navigate mental health as a community.”
