About the event

In partnership with horses, you can learn about mindfulness, authenticity, and compassion. Science has shown that when humans offer their hearts to horses, their heartbeats synchronize. You develop a close and intimate connection with the horse based on trust and respect. Horses are confidence builders, they are teachers of life skills and they lift us up no matter the challenges we face.

Expressive arts offer a way to connect to your authentic self and the vision board is a physical manifestation of what you want to see in your life based on your values and goals. Through a series of questions, you will create a picture using words and symbols representing what you want to achieve. By placing this vision board in your home where you can see it daily, you will receive an immensely powerful, clear message of your deepest desires, training your brain and body to complete the actions you have painted, thus bringing your goals to fruition.

Led by certified and experienced facilitators, our workshops are designed to integrate with one another, each providing a unique lens of self-discovery.

Cynthia Caruso graduated from the Art Institute of Dallas and is a designer, artist, crafter and most recently a muralist. Her career in magazine publishing and the medical field helped her to develop compassion and empathy for others, along with patience, tolerance, acceptance, and finding creative ways of to work around issues. When Cynthia got sober and delved into a 12-step program, she brought her art and craft to the fellowship. Cynthia’s workshop called Creative Recovery involved crafting and artwork guided by the 12 steps. She also facilitated Vision Board workshops at sober retreats which enabled others to develop a path of sobriety. Cynthia is passionate about bringing art and creative expression to those suffering with substance abuse. In 2023, Cynthia participated in Crescent Moon Center’s Healing Reflections program and was struck by the community experience in the Singing Tree Mural workshop. She has since pursued certification and assisted on several murals throughout the Bay Area.

Program Participant Testimonials:

“This program got me in touch

with a part of myself

that I was longing to get in touch with.

It gave me a safe place to be creative,

to access my depth through creativity.”

“I learned so much from... the horses. That was one of the most powerful things I have ever experienced”.

“One way this program impacts my commitment to recovery is the intense feeling of community. I’ve been in touch with people after the program, and they’re all sober people, so it encourages me to stay sober.”
