A PLACE FOR HEALING

Through Horses and Creative Arts

ABOUT

CRESCENT MOON

CENTER

WHO WE ARE

Crescent Moon Center is a place for healing through horses and creative arts. The purpose of the Center is to operate a multi-cultural and educational program for persons who are recovering from substance use disorders. It is intended to benefit persons who have demonstrated a commitment to recovery.

WHY THE CENTER IS NEEDED

Treatment centers start the process of recovery and provide the education and tools necessary to move forward in life. However, the struggle to meet the challenges of living sober and independently can be daunting. In addition, socio-economic factors make it difficult for people to have access to programs which assist and support long-term recovery. Isolation from family, friends and employment, lack of structure and involvement in activities, boredom and repetition in day-to-day life, can all be triggers for relapse. Unlike other serious diseases where long-term aftercare support is commonplace, individuals in recovery from substance use disorders have few resources available. This is why Crescent Moon Center is needed.

OUR VISION FOR A SOLUTION

Crescent Moon Center's vision is to provide an environment where participants can engage with others in creative activities known to benefit and lead to sustained recovery. The Center will offer equine and creative arts programs and provide transportation, where necessary, for participants to attend. Each program is designed to address the particular needs of the participant for the specific purpose of developing self-awareness, insight and confidence. The programs will benefit those participants who need support in order to reintegrate into meaningful personal and professional relationships.

WHY OUR PROGRAMS ARE UNIQUE

Crescent Moon offers an environment where each of its core programs enables
participants to view themselves, and the world around them, through many different lenses. This experience is achieved by the unique design of the programs, which integrate with one another, using different modalities and enabling participants to discover their own unique authenticity.

OUR

PROGRAMS

Crescent Moon Center was formed in 2017, and development of the Center’s programs has been underway since then. In January 2019, we began the transition from development to implementation of programs.

In the next several months, we will hold pilot programs to evaluate and strengthen our core programs before opening the Center to the public. Please feel free to explore the workshops we plan to offer.

GET

INVOLVED

You may have heard about, or known someone whose life has been touched by opioid, alcohol or other drug addiction - whose addiction has resulted in the loss of friends, family, work or, worse yet, resulted in the loss of a life. Action can and must be taken to prevent substance use disorders from compromising lives. More programs and a community interested in helping those affected are needed to support long term recovery after treatment ends, or if treatment is unaffordable. This is our mission.

Together, we can be a moving force in creating an environment where recovery can become a dynamic, engaging, transforming and exciting process - and accessible to everyone.

"HOW WE RESPOND TO THIS [ADDICTION] CRISIS IS A MORAL TEST FOR AMERICA. ARE WE A NATION WILLING TO TAKE ON AN EPIDEMIC THAT IS CAUSING GREAT HUMAN SUFFERING AND ECONOMIC LOSS? ARE WE ABLE TO LIVE UP TO THAT MOST FUNDAMENTAL OBLIGATION WE HAVE AS HUMAN BEINGS: TO CARE FOR ONE ANOTHER?"

U.S. Public Health Service Surgeon General (2016)
